MyElena Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 24, 2026
Last updated: September 24, 2026
This is a plain-language policy for the MyElena website and app. It is a starting template, not legal advice. You should have a lawyer licensed in Canada review it before you rely on it.
WHO WE ARE
MyElena (“MyElena,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates myelena.online and the MyElena app.
MyElena helps a person who needs support post practical tasks and invite friends, family, or peers to claim those tasks.
This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and the choices you have.
If you have questions, email: _______________Maybe something like privacy@myelena.online (Marat, we need to create one unless you already have one we use)
WHAT THIS SERVICE IS — AND IS NOT
MyElena is a coordination tool for everyday help (for example: a ride, groceries, a meal, or an errand).
MyElena is not a medical service, clinic, pharmacy, insurer, or emergency service.
We do not ask for diagnoses, medications, test results, or medical records.
Please do not post medical records or other sensitive health files in the app.
If you still mention a health detail in a task (for example, “I cannot lift heavy bags”), we treat that text as personal information and protect it like the rest of your account data.
WHO THIS POLICY COVERS
This policy applies to:
- people who create an account to request help
- people who join a support team and claim tasks
- visitors who open our website or app
THE INFORMATION WE COLLECT
1) Account information
When you sign up, we collect:
- email address
- password (if you create an email account; we store it in protected form, not as plain text)
- name or display name, if you provide one
- other profile details you enter during onboarding (for example, basic user info needed to set up your account or team)
2) Sign-in through Google or Apple
If you choose “Continue with Google” or “Continue with Apple,” those companies share limited account details with us, usually:
- your name
- your email address
- a unique ID from Google or Apple
- in some cases, a profile photo
We do not receive your Google or Apple password.
Google and Apple have their own privacy policies. Their rules apply to the information they hold.
3) Support-team and task information
This is the core of the product. We collect:
- the names and contact details of people you invite to a team
- team membership (who belongs to which circle)
- tasks you post (title, description, time, location if you add one, and status)
- who claimed, completed, or declined a task
- messages or notes tied to a task, if the product includes them
Other people on the same team can see the tasks and the team details that are shared inside that team. They cannot see teams they were not invited to.
4) Notifications
To send email or push notifications, we collect:
- your email address
- a device notification token, if you allow push notifications
- notification preferences, if you set them
You can turn off push notifications in your device settings. You can also ask us to stop non-essential emails.
5) Technical information
When you use the website or app, we automatically collect basic technical data, such as:
- IP address
- device type and operating system
- browser type
- app version
- pages or screens viewed
- date and time of use
- crash or error logs
We use this to keep the service working, fix problems, and protect accounts.
WHAT WE DO NOT COLLECT ON PURPOSE
We do not intend to collect:
- government ID numbers
- payment card numbers (MyElena does not process payments in this version)
- medical records, diagnoses, prescriptions, or lab results
- precise background location all day (we only store a location if you type it into a task)
If you paste any of the above into a task or profile field, it becomes part of that content. Do not do that unless you are comfortable sharing it with your team and with us as the service operator.
HOW WE USE INFORMATION
We use information to:
- create and manage your account
- let you build a team and invite people you choose
- publish tasks to that team
- notify team members about tasks and updates
- show who claimed or finished a task
- provide customer support
- keep the service secure and prevent abuse
- understand how the product is used so we can fix and improve it
- meet legal duties, if we are required to
We do not sell your personal information.
We do not use your information to show third-party ads.
WHO CAN SEE YOUR INFORMATION
1) Your support team
People you invite can see:
- that they are on your team
- the tasks shared with that team
- who claimed a task
They should only use that information to help you.
2) Service providers
We use trusted companies to run the product. They may process information on our behalf, for example:
- hosting and databases
- email delivery
- push-notification services
- Google or Apple, if you sign in with them
These providers are allowed to use your information only to provide their service to us, not for their own marketing of MyElena users.
3) Legal and safety reasons
We may disclose information if we believe in good faith that we must:
- follow the law, a court order, or a lawful request
- protect someone’s physical safety
- investigate fraud, abuse, or a security incident
- protect our rights or the rights of users
We will not share your information with random third parties for their marketing.
COOKIES AND SIMILAR TOOLS
The website and app may use cookies or similar tools to:
- keep you signed in
- remember basic settings
- understand which pages work or fail
You can block cookies in your browser. If you do, some features (including staying signed in) may not work.
CHILDREN
MyElena is intended for adults.
Do not create an account if you are under 18.
Do not invite a person under 18 to a team.
If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 18, we will delete that account and related data unless a parent/relative has created an account on behalf of a young family member who is under 18. Email privacy@myelena.online if you believe this has happened.
HOW LONG WE KEEP INFORMATION
We keep information only as long as we need it:
- account and team data: while your account is open
- tasks and related history: while the team exists, or until you delete them
- technical logs: for a shorter period, unless we need them to investigate a problem
- information we must keep by law: for the required period
If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize personal information that we do not need to keep. Backup copies may take a short time to disappear.
HOW WE PROTECT INFORMATION
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, such as encrypted connections and restricted access to systems.
No online service is perfectly secure. Please:
- use a strong password
- do not share your password
- invite only people you trust
- avoid putting sensitive medical, financial, or identity details in a task
YOUR CHOICES AND RIGHTS
Depending on Canadian privacy law that applies to you, you may ask us to:
- give you a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- correct information that is wrong
- delete your account and personal information
- withdraw consent where we rely on consent
- explain how we use and share your information
To make a request, email privacy@myelena.online from the address on your account. We may need to verify that it is you.
You can also:
- edit profile details in the app, where that feature exists
- leave a team or remove a team member, where that feature exists
- turn off push notifications on your device
- stop using the service and request account deletion
WHERE INFORMATION IS STORED
We operate in Canada. Our hosting or service providers may store or process information on servers outside Canada, including in the United States.
If information leaves Canada, it may be subject to the laws of that other country, including lawful access by authorities there.
CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
We may update this policy. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top.
If a change is significant, we will try to notify you by email or in the app. Continued use of MyElena after an update means you accept the revised policy.
